Simpson – Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Celeste “Cel” Mary
Simpson, age 85 years, of Corunna.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Cel leaves
behind a legacy of love, generosity, and steadfast care for those around her.
She was predeceased by her son, Todd Simpson, and infant daughter, Tanya. She is lovingly
remembered by her husband of 64 years, Ken Simpson; her daughter, Tanis McAuley; and her
daughter-in-law, Paula Doolaege.
Treasured grandmother of Cody (Sonia), Megan (Andrew), Alexander and Andrew, and
Matthew, Benjamin and Kallista (through Paula). Cherished great-grandmother of Isaac, Sally,
and soon-to-arrive George, Beckett, and Tatum and Leonardo (through Paula).
She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Gova Maitland of Sarnia and Judy Taylor of Ayr.
Cel was predeceased by her brothers, Stu Prudom and John Prudom. She will be further missed
by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Many will fondly remember Cel for her caring and generous heart, her daily walks along the
river trail, her famous butter tarts, and her many beautiful flower gardens.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to a
visitation at the Corunna United Church on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m., where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Mercer and Rev. Cody
Simpson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to Corunna United
Church, MS Society, or the Canadian Mental Health Association.

So sorry to hear this. Cel was a remarkable woman. I remember her always thinking of others with kindness and generosity. My condolences to the family. 💕
Sally was such an asset to our community. Great church member who loved helping make pies etc at the church. Always would see her walking in her younger days. Will be missed by those who knew her.

Our heartfelt condolences to Ken and his family.
Cel will be dearly missed. We were truly fortunate to have lived next door to two of the kindest neighbours anyone could ever hope to meet. Cel’s energy was second to none, and everyone in Corunna knew it. Her daily walks were legendary—if she had worn an odometer, it surely would have registered well over a million miles!
And of course, she had the best delivery boy in town—Ken—who regularly appeared at our back door with the most wonderful desserts: rhubarb, strawberry-rhubarb, lemon meringue, coconut cream, and so many more.
We were blessed to have Cel in our lives for the past 15 years.

It was with great sadness to hear of Sally’s passing. I’ve known her as a patient and a friend for the last 30 years. Her kindness and warmth will never be forgotten. Her pastries during the holidays and her turkey pies delivered right to my door.

I am so sorry I did not see this until today. Ken Tanis Cody and families my love is with all of you. Cel or Sally as we all knew her was a special beautiful lady. She loved Tanis and Todd with all her heart and shared that love with all her assorted and chosen grandchildren. She and Ken were more than a couple: they were friends. Lot of wonderful memories from skating and Todd and Karolyn’s sharing a workplace and friendship. Her pride in Cody being called to the ministry was so great. She will be truly missed. The Lord welcomed a special one this week.
