Ruth Anne McCabe

Ruth Anne McCabe
March 9, 1944 – April 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Anne McCabe, who passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ruth was born on March 9, 1944, in Watford, Ontario, to Bruce and Joyce Sharp. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Ronald McCabe, and together they built a life centered on family, strength, and unwavering support. In 1982, Ruth and Ron moved their family to Corunna, where she became a familiar and well-loved presence in the community. For over 25 years, Ruth(y) worked as a dedicated bus driver at Nova Chemicals. She was more than just a driver—she was a constant, friendly face and someone people could count on. Over the years, she built many lasting friendships and touched countless lives. She was not only a devoted mother to her four boys, but also a second mom to many of their friends. Her home, her advice, and her steady presence were a source of comfort and guidance for countless young people over the years—often offering support, a listening ear, and sometimes a little extra help when it was needed most. Ruth had a deep love for hockey and rarely missed a game when it came to her sons and grandchildren. Her pride and dedication were evident in every rink she sat in, cheering them on over the years. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Ronald (1984), her son Brent (1988), her son Lee (2025), her sister Joan Lester (2022) and her parents Bruce and Joyce Sharp (1990s). She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her brothers Robert Sharp (Heather) and John Sharp (April), Sisters in law Ruth (Bob Montgomery) and Sheila (Robert McCabe), also by sons Mark (Tammy) and Brian (Shannon), and by Amy, Lee’s life partner. She was a proud grandmother to Mykala, Mitchell, Matthew, Tyson, Caleb, Levi and fur baby Jaycee. She was a cherished great-grandmother to Reggie, Sully, Walker, and a baby girl on the way. She will also be fondly remembered by special friends and extended family, Stephanie, Cathy and Zakk who held a special place in her heart. Ruth’s life was defined by her strength, generosity, and the quiet but powerful way she showed love—by always being there for others. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be forever missed and forever remembered. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held at the Watford Cemetery for immediate family. A celebration of her life will be held at the St. Clair Parkway Golf Course on Friday May 1, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. with words of remembrance being offered at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society or to the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online at www.knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845

  15. I will really miss Ruth Anne. We had so many laughs and she was always there to help when she drove the bus for Nova. Some days were so difficult to get through but when she picked me up and we chatted about our day, it seemed like we knew tomorrow would be a better day. She had a heart of pure gold. I will always remember her.
