Mullen-Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Bluewater Health-Palliative Care Unit in Sarnia, on Monday October 5, 2026. John Daniel “Dan” Mullen, age 92 years of Mooretown. Dearly loved husband of the late Peggy Mullen (nee Johnston) (2018). Much loved father of Mick Mullen (Deb), Mark Mullen (Pat), Steve Mullen (Marilyn), Mary Ellen Moloy (Laren), Kathleen Jones (Brad) and Stacy Gormley (Pat). Cherished grandpa to 13 grandchildren and “Big Papa” to 13 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Elizabeth Haering (Denis) and Terry Mullen (Bev) and brother-in-law of Gail Mullen. Dan will be fondly remembered by special friend, Carolyn Parr. He was a caring brother-in-law to Jean English (Louis), Claudette Johnston, Pete Johnston (Margie), Sherry Vandevenne (Bill) and Terry Castaldi (Ron). He was predeceased by; his infant son, Thomas Matthew Mullen (1959); his infant granddaughter, Sara Delaney Jones (1992);his parents, John and Adeline Mullen; his sister, Anastasia Crone and her husband, Ken; his brother, Michael Mullen; his sister, Marianne Taylor and her husband, Bob; his sister-in-law, Anne Mullen; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jack and Elizabeth Johnston and by many other members of the Johnston family. Dan was born and raised in Moore Township and remained very active within the community having been involved in the Moore Sports Complex, Moore Museum, Courtright Community Hall, Minor Baseball and as a longtime member of the St. Charles and St. Joseph’s Church’s. Dan began his working career for White Rose and retired from Shell after 40 years of service. He was inducted into the Sarnia-Lambton Sports Hall of Fame with the 1960 Wilkesport Tigers. Dan and Peggy loved to travel in their various campers over the years and spent many years wintering in Florida. He was the proud owner of a 1953 Meteor which he liked to show though out the area with his car club friends. Many will remember him as a devoted fan and follower of his kids and grand kids at their many sporting events. His family will continue to treasure the numerous wood crafted pieces Dan made over the years. Family and friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Tuesday October 13, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. Cremation has taken place and a private family Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Corunna on Wednesday October 14th at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Ray Lawhead celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Corunna. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Bluewater Health-Palliative Care Unit or to the Moore Museum.
