Burns- Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Sunday November 23, 2025. Bernice Angeline Burns, age 87 years of Courtright. Loving wife of 68 years to Pat Burns. Much loved mother of Gary Burns (Jean) of Mooretown, John Burns (Deb) of Corunna, Don Burns (Karen) and Ken Burns (Lislee) all of Courtright. Treasured grandmother of Brent, Carlie, Lindsay, Rachel and Hali and cherished great-grandmother of Serena, Carson, Madison, Ruby, Hudson and Royce. Bernice was the loving sister of Roland Sterling (Louella), Rose Pickford (Jerry), Ivan Sterling, Ed Sterling (Janet), Elaine Shaw (Brian) and Dan Sterling (Vicky) and sister-in-law of Meryl Burns and Ron Burns (Sharon). Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Bernice was predeceased by; her parents, Oscar and Mary Anne Sterling; her sister, Beulah Authier and by her brothers-in-law, Oscar Authier, Art Bernard, Alec Arnold (late Joanne), Bob Burns (late Betty), James Burns and Tom Burns (late Rita). Bernice will be fondly remembered as being a longtime member of St. Charles/St. Joseph’s CWL. and the Courtright Fire Ladies. A special thanks is extended to the Dr’s and Nurses on 4th Floor Telemetry and 5th Floor Palliative Care at Bluewater Health for their compassion and care shown to Bernice and her family during her brief stay there. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Corunna on Friday November 28, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Ray Lawhead celebrating. Cremation has taken place and Bernice will be placed in the Columbarium at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Lambton at a later date. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Church, Corunna or to the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit. To Pat , Gary, John, Donny, Kenny and Families . Bernie will alway hold a very special place in my heart. She told me I was having a boy and it was on her Birthday Dec 18 and she was so right. Bernice was a loving member of the down river group, known as, the Golden Girls. She has now joined her beloved friends, Jacqueline Simmons, Bev Ingles, Donna Guthrie, and still with us, Barb Little.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences to the Burns family on the passing of your wife, mother, and friend, as her love and guidance will forever be a part of you, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. I can’t find the words to express how sorry I am for your loss.

This is very sad news. I have known Pat and Bernice since 1973. Two of my favourite people. I always enjoyed the times when we discussed a little bit of everything. Bernice was a wonderful lady and will be missed by me and so many others. My sincere condolences to the Burns family.
