Switzer- Tragically as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday December 31, 2025. Steven James Phillip Switzer, age 20 years of Mooretown. Cherished son of Tinacia Cepeda and Brent McManus of Mooretown and the late Steve Switzer (2010). Treasured brother of Nina McManus and Cole Switzer. Much loved grandson of Jim and Rose Switzer of Corunna, Christina MacLay of Sarnia and Steve and Denise McManus of Mooretown. Dear nephew of Jenny Switzer and Chantelle McManus. He will be fondly remembered by his cousins Lacey and Pheonix. Loving boyfriend of Mara Bell and best friend of Jesse Knight. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Steven was predeceased by; his grandfather, Phillip MacLay (2010); his “Nina”, Marie Sheppard (2020) and by his grandfather, Ignacio B. Cepeda (1988). Steven was a proud member of Local # 663 as a third generation pipefitter and was currently employed at LamSar. He enjoyed his many years playing hockey in Mooretown, was a passionate video game player and was devoted to working out at the gym. He was also an affectionate pet owner of three boxers- Nassie, Bella and Tysie. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Wednesday January 7, 2026 from 4-7 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Jill Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Sarnia and District Humane Society or to Jump Start www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca/ . Such devastating news. Steven was just entering into a new career with great enthusiasm and drive that would make anyone proud, especially his grandfather and father. Working with him for a few weeks was very enlightening and full of laughs. This kid had it together with a huge drive to learn and succeed. I was looking forward to following his career. Truly a spark extinguished before the flame.

I am so saddened to hear the news of Steven’s passing. My deepest sympathy goes to his family and all who were close to him. Though I knew him only for a short while at the college as one of his instructors, he brought an energy that was infectious. I can picture him so clearly.
