Gwen Coultis

Coultis- With great sadness, we announce that Gwendolyn “Gwen” Clara Coultis passed away unexpectedly at the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit in Sarnia, on Wednesday October 22, 2025, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Gwen was age 75 years of Corunna and she passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. “I did it my way.” Gwen was a devoted and beloved wife of 46 years to the late John Coultis (2016), a loving mother to Bonnie Coultis of Manitoulin Island and Tanisha Coultis (Mike Walker) of Chatham and a treasured meme to Justin Leo Drew and John Tyler Drew. A cherished sister to Mary Bromley and Darlene (Jake) Martens and to brothers Wayne (Valerie) St. Denis and James (Gwen) St. Denis and, sister-in-law to Kyle (Fran) Coultis, Danny Coultis and Mark (Denise) Coultis. Gwen or “Auntie banana brains” will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Hazel St. Denis (Bigelow) of Windsor and brother-in-law Ben Bromley and sister-in-law Lois Coultis. Gwen will be missed by her two cats, Monte and Ruby-Do but she will be joining her sheltie dogs. Gwen adored her two grandsons and loved spending time with them. She was known for her love of music, reading, baking, knitting/crocheting, bush walks, swimming at “Munns Point” and dominating in cards/cribbage. John and Gwen were part of the Canadian Coast Guard family for over 45 years and called Tobermory home, a place where they lived for many years. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at the St. Clair Parkway Golf Course, 132 Moore Line, Mooretown on Saturday November 29, 2025 from 12 p.m.-4 p.m. with words of remembrance being offered at 1 p.m. An interment will take place in Tobermory, in the spring. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the War Amps or Sarnia and District Humane Society.   1. We are very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom and Meme.
    This is a beautiful tribute and we are sure she’s with her hubby and their two shelties celebrating.
    We hope in time, you will be able to share the funny stories of “Auntie Banana Brain” and laugh while remembering her fondly forever.

  3. She was the life of any gathering, she taught my children a song that I can’t get out of my mind, she told them to call her Auntie Banna brains. She will be missed. But she is with the Lord.
