Janet Beatty

With much sadness, the family of the “Delightful! Marvelous! Fantastic!” (if you know, you know) Janet Victoria Beatty (nee Vaughan) announces her peaceful passing on Monday, February 23, at Twin Lakes Terrace at the age of 81.

Jan is survived by her beloved children Tevlin (Shawn) Mundell and Buzz Beatty. Much loved Granny to Karlee (Adam) Huff, Billy (Lidia) Page, Jake (Josh) Page, and Jazz Beatty. Dearest Great Granny to Millee and Huni Huff. Adored sister of Jackie (Tom) Knight, and Jodi Armstrong. Loving Aunt to Darryl (Amanda) Knight, Andrea Knight, Christopher (Stephanie) Knight, TJ Armstrong, and Jim Armstrong. Special Great Aunt to Maddison Oliver, Everett, Harrison, Charlie and Hayley Knight.

Jan was predeceased by her loving parents Rod and Hazel Vaughan, and brother-in-law Tom Armstrong.

Jan’s family is beyond grateful for the wonderful, loving care she received from the staff at Twin Lakes Terrace during her stay. Thank you to all. She will be dearly missed by her cherished friends Solange and Joyce and her lifelong friend Ronnie.

Jan was a remarkable fighter who overcame many obstacles in her life and always adapted to her situation with unwavering wit and humour. She will be deeply missed, forever loved and always in our hearts. Jan is now at peace, where “the owl knows” the way.

In keeping with Jan’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

  1. Granny Janny was the toughest woman i know. To go through all her health challenges and still be smiling and laughing every day! Ill cherish those 3 hr (or more) grocery trips trying to figure out what your looking for! Apparently a rectangle with dots in it means pizza pops! RIP Granny, you will be missed by all!

  2. Almost 50 years of knowing Jan, so many laughs, ups and downs and memories of being yelled at as a kid. I don’t know how she managed to stay so cheerful with everything that was thrown at her. Life was always FANTASTIC even when it wasn’t. My wish for you Jan is to be able to watch Walker Texas Ranger and the weather in peace. 🙂
Condolences to her family and friends.

  3. So sorry for your loss Tev, I didn’t know your Mother but knowing you and seeing her big smile you were two of a kind. Hugs. ❤️

  5. My mother, Jane, who just passed away in November was once her dining room table mate. I used to love being their as we walked mum to the dinner, as we were always, always greeted by her beautiful warm smile.. Sending my family’s deepest gratitude and appreciation for her positive impact on mom’s time at Twin Lakes, Mabel Higgins & family

  6. Tevlin and Buzz, I am so sorry for your loss. I’ve known Jan for close to 60 years and she was always smiling. I recently reconnected with her and it made my heart so happy. Always strong always brave. Life has thrown her some curve balls but she never stopped smiling. I will never forget you and will forever miss you! 💔

  7. Your mother Janet was certainly a delight to be around!
Our Mum Jane had the opportunity to get to know Janet over meals and other social activities at Twin Lakes LTC before she passed back in November.
Janet always had a complement to share about how Mum looked when we would arrive to the dining room and when I would ask Janet how she was, she would always say she was “FANTASTIC”!
Janet always had such a welcoming smile and I know she’ll be missed by many!
    Blessings, Brenda Bandy & Family
