HAYES, Rose Alberta Jean — With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Rose Alberta Hayes on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Bluewater Health, at the age of 94.
Rose lived a long and full life, marked by resilience, quiet strength, and an unwavering kindness toward others. She was the beloved wife of the late Maurice Quinn (1962), the late Daniel Hayes (2000), and the late Albert Marcy (2020). A devoted mother, she is survived by her son Wayne Hayes and was predeceased by her cherished children Debra Quinn (2006) and Edward Quinn (2012).
Rose was a loving and proud grandmother to Danielle Beland (Griffin), Sarah Peachey (Myles), Matthew Hayes (Amanda), and Nicholas Hayes, and a deeply adored great-grandmother to Makayla, Andrew, Kylie, Kaden, Zahra, and Daniel, each of whom brought her immense joy. She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Mae Devereaux and brother John Smith, and was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Bertha Smith, and siblings Milton, Lawrence, Margaret, Dorothy, Hazel, June, Joyce, and James.
A woman ahead of her time, Rose worked at Polysar as its first female computer programmer — a role she took on with determination and pride. Her life was defined by service and compassion. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She volunteered for over 20 years at the Inn of the Good Shepherd, and also shared her time and talents with the Red Cross blood donor clinic, the CNIB, and several other community initiatives, always finding ways to help those around her. Over the past decade, Rose lovingly made and gifted hundreds of beautiful quilts, each one an expression of her care and generosity.
Rose was a special friend to many — someone you could count on, talk to, laugh with, or simply sit beside. Her warmth, wisdom, and gentle presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Visitation will be held at Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna, on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place, and a family interment at Moore Union Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd, 115 John Street, Sarnia, N7T 2Z1.
Messages of condolence may be left online at knightfuneralhome.ca.
Her hands created warmth, her heart created home.
May we feel her love wrapped around us, always.

My children and I always enjoyed a visit with Aunt Rose-
Sorry to hear about Rose. I had a wonderful chat with her a few years ago. Such a sweet lady.
I met Rose when we were working in the same building at Polysar. I later met up with her again when I was working with Dan at Shell. We shared many memories together and I remember how wonderful she was to her grandchildren and family. She definitely was a lady to be admired. RIP Rose.🌹
You couldn’t ask for a better aunt. She loved holding dinners and getting all of her extended family together. She will be sadly missed.
