Walter “Wally” Buniak

BUNIAK, Walter – Wally passed away at Marshall Gowland Manor on Monday, October 20, 2025 at the age of 80. Husband of the late Rose (1999). Father of the late Michael Buniak (2024) and Tonya Furtado. Brother of Sally Regimbald (Mike). Uncle of Christina Seward (Kevin) and Nick Seward (Shireena). Lifelong friend of Art Magega. Wally was born in Germany and then came to Canada with his parents, the late Michael and Maria Buniak. He lived in Corunna, but spent many years in London. He was a primary school teacher in Corunna.
While in London, he was active in the Ukrainian community.He was always joking around and making people laugh. At his request, Walter will be cremated and no services will be held.
He will be buried alongside Rose and Michael in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Corunna.

    Mr. Buniak was my grade 7 teacher in Mooretown and I also curled with him in Petrolia. I remember him as being very kind and always quick with a joke to make everyone laugh. Rest in peace.

  2. Sending sincere condolences to the family..I worked with Wally at Johnston Memorial and he also taught one of my children. Wally was always upbeat friendly and genuinely cared about his students…always had a smile on his face❤️

  3. Mr Buniak was an awesome teacher. I had him as a teacher at Mooretown School. Such a kind soul. We also met up in the last year or two and chatted for quite some time. My condolences go out to all of his friends and family. May you rest in peace Mr Buniak.

  4. I met Wally at Wellings in Corunna. Very pleasant and jovial personality. We had spoken a few times in our native languages. Certainly will miss his witty persona. Rest in peace Wally

  5. Mr Buniak was my grade 7 teacher at Mooretown school around 1970 . I really liked him. I would run into him through the years. RIP Mr. Buniak. I hope that you are still telling jokes.

  6. Wally was a good friend of ours for many years. We played many games of Poker together along with more friends. We drifted apart and didn’t see him for the last few years. He liked to joke around and be the center of attention. Our deepest condolences to his family. Rest in eternal peace our friend.
