Jacqueline McLellan

Jacqueline “Jackie” McLellan – Jackie, with Dara by her side, was cared for in her final days by the wonderful people at St Joseph’s Hospice and was reunited with her loving husband Jack on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Jackie, born August 16, 1936 was raised and lived most of her life in Frog Point, just outside of Courtright, and in later years moved to Sarnia. Survived by her much loved daughter Dara (Neil) Sinclair, cherished grandchildren Kalyn (Jonathan) of Pantego, Texas, Seana (Jason) of Brampton, Nathan of St. John, New Brunswick, Makyle (Joy) of Clearland, Nova Scotia, Drae of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, Krista (Thomas) of Port Huron, and Drew (Jacci) of Horseshoe Valley and her great grandchildren, the joys of her life, Fraya, John, Katherine, Callum, Lani, Geneviève and Eleanor. Jackie was a much favoured Aunt to many generations of nieces and nephews. Jackie was reunited with her son Allan and his wife Cheryl, as well as her parents Charlie and Florence Bedard, and all of her siblings William (Irma), Toni (Guido), Dorothy (Sandy), Marie (Tony), Charlie (Marcelle) and Lionel as well as mother-in-law Florence McLellan, in-laws Harold (Monica) and Marianne (Ray, Percy). Jackie was a dedicated career woman who broke glass ceilings before that was a term and retired as Branch Manager of Adjusters Canada. An avid sportswoman, she golfed (was looking forward to the upcoming season) and curled, both locally and in bonspiels all across Ontario for many years. Always ready to compete, Jackie loved bowling and qualified to represent Ontario in the USBC Senior tournament at least 9 times, winning the championship in her division and was recently inducted into the Lambton County Tenpin Bowling Hall of Fame. Never idle, she was known to zoom, zoom from one event to the next, and spent many hours volunteering for both the Courtright and Corunna CWL, and more recently at St. Giles Church and the Ex-Servicemen’s Club. Dear to her heart was working Wednesdays in the kitchen at St. Joseph’s Hospice, making delicious soups and breakfasts. She volunteered for so many causes and in doing so made many special friends. Jackie loved attending plays and musicals and even acted as Mother Superior in Nunsense. Her greatest joy was to sing in numerous Church and Funeral Choirs, Forest Community Choir, Synergy Choir and St. Andrews Spring Choir. And when Jackie did the readings in Church, the parishioners sat in rapt attention as she made scripture come alive. In keeping with Jackie’s wishes cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Tuesday April 7, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Fr. Our sympathy to Jackie’s family. She had a beautiful smile .
We always appreciated her memories of our childhood church, St.Charles in Courtright.
She noted what families sat next to the Bédard family and we were one of them.
When you go near Frog Point in Courtright, you always remember the Bédard family and their kindness.

I was honoured to be Jackie’s neighbour across the hall since moving back to Sarnia 3 years ago. Her presence and grace always uplifted our community. Jackie is in good hands now and her memory will be cherished by many.

Jackie was a good friend for many years. We sang together in some of the church choirs, at funerals especially, and I attended many concerts she performed in. We enjoyed lunch at Waggs several times each year with other friends! I will truly miss her!

  11. Our thoughts and prayers to Jackie’s family. Jackie was a very energetic lady, as we found working with her at the Inn of the Good Shepherd (with IBEW 530 retirees). When we left, the surfaces were always clean, thanks to her (and Bar Keeper Friend). Heaven has a new angel. She will be missed. (am sure she is busy cleaning there also)
    Ray and Nancy Lucas,

    1. I just heard. She was my curling buddy for years and was a positive influence on me especially when my game was off. Will always remember her spirit.

  12. I offer my sincere condolences to all of Jackie’s family and friends. I dealt with her once professionally and a good number of times socially. Just a first class person to be in the company of. She and Jack were a great one-two punch as well. I’m sorry for your loss

Dara and family. We were heartbroken to hear about mom/grandma. She was one of the kindest lady that we ever knew. Always a smile and a loving thought toward and about everyone. We will miss her dearly.

  14. Dara and family, where do I start….Jackie, you were one of a kind girl! We had many laughs doing the gardens at
St. Joseph’s Church, when we sat and took a break on the church steps, we would decide what part to challenge next! And off we would go again! After Jackie had broken her neck, her first time back I said…Ok, what are you able to do, because I knew I would be in trouble if I did jobs she always did! We would go shopping for the flowers for the window boxes, trying different ones to see how they would survive that blistering sun! And then we would DRESS UP and go for lunch, never took pics working in the gardens, goodness knows we weren’t dressed up!
Jay and I will miss you terribly, you were family to us, along with Jack….and I know Jack and Allan were there waiting for you with open arms 💕. Love ya girl💔

  15. So sorry to hear this Dara. I did not know your mom but it sure seems that she was extremely active in just about everything. I am sure she left you with so many memories. Keep those memories close to your heart.

Jackie and I go way back to the seventies when we were co-workers at MacPherson Insurance Adjusters. I was a new young secretary in 1972 who had just graduated out of high school, and Jackie was one of the long time secretaries. Jackie’s shorthand was something other than Pitman shorthand; I always thought her shorthand had a lot more squiggles than mine had! It was so inspiring that Jackie had worked her way up in the insurance world by becoming an adjuster and then eventually a branch manager. I ran across Jackie over the years in various ways, be it through joint church functions with the CWL, choirs and concerts, volunteering with St. Joseph’s Hospice. Best of all was the regular lunch time reunions with the MacPherson gang two or three times a year, which Pam has been so good to continue organizing. With Jackie having been so actively involved in sports, music, and volunteering, I would never have thought that she would become terminally ill. I believe Jackie lived a very fulfilling life amidst any of the trials she went through. May she rest in peace now with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and be reunited with all the loved ones who have gone before her. We all will miss you dearly and remember you fondly.

  17. Jackie was a great neighbour of mine for many years. The 6th floor will not be the same without her smiling face at the end of the hall.
    She will be missed.

I met Jackie when we were both volunteering at the hospice. Recently , we reconnected playing euchre at the SGCC. I loved her sense of humour and was totally impressed with her participation in so many community activities. I will miss crossing paths with her. To Dara her daughter…my deepest condolences…Margo Harrison

Jackie sat next to me at the St. Andrews Spring Choir. I was saddened to learn of her short fight and her passing. I miss you already but know you will be with us from above on April 26th as we sing our hearts out. You were inspirational to all with whom you graced with your presence. Rest in Peace Jackie….Angelique
