Annie McLaughlin 1926-2024
McLaughlin- Peacefully at Bear Creek Terrace, Petrolia on Wednesday August 28, 2024. Annie Appolonia McLaughlin (nee Neve), age 98 years formerly of Corunna. Annie was predeceased by; her husband, Ted (Thomas Edward) McLaughlin; her parents, Paulina and Peter Neve and by her brother, Albert Neve. Grandmother to Michelle (Ryan) Smith, Brian McLaughlin and Jeff McLaughlin (Brandy) and Robin Zerebecki, Chris Zerebecki (Alisha) and Meaghan Zerebecki and seven great-grandchildren. Annie grew up in Wallaceburg during the Depression and started working in a war plant at the age of sixteen. At eighteen her family bought a farm on Petrolia Line, where she met her future husband Ted who lived across the road. Annie and Ted spent almost 50 years on the farm, raising their family. After Ted died in 1996 Annie moved to a house in Corunna. At the age of 87 she gave up driving and took up painting, spending many happy hours painting her memories of rural life. She had her first art exhibit at the age 90 (JNAGG 2016) and four others, the last at the Lambton Heritage Museum (2020). At Annie’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral.
