Bernardus Kaal

Kaal- Peacefully at the Bluewater Health-Palliative Care Unit, Sarnia on Friday September 22, 2017. Bernardus Theodorus Kaal, age 92yrs. Beloved husband of Pauline Kaal. Loving father of Pat Mullen and her husband Mark of Mooretown, Rob Kaal and his wife April of Corunna, Nancy Bayduk and her husband Bruce of Sarnia and Lisa Easter of Corunna. Bernardus was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren . He is survived by his sister Marie Looman (Hank) of Saskatoon. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Our father was an amazing man with an inspirational story. As a family we would not have had the life we have today if he didn’t emmigrate from Holland to Canada on a boat with just the clothes on his back in 1952. Then he brought his beautiful bride, Paulina, in 1957 and married in Hamilton, Ontario – his death preceded just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. When he arrived in Canada he started off his life as a farmer in Saskatchewan and worked towards having a career as a Boilermaker in Local #128. He was well respected and fondly remembered within the Construction Community in Sarnia Lambton area. He retired in 1982 from the company he Co-founded, LamSar Mechanical Contractors. In retirement he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a loving, caring man and always had a great sense of humor about him. Although he will be sadly missed, his death is a celebration of his 92-1/2 years of life. He came with nothing and built a wonderful life. In keeping with the families wishes cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Sarnia-Lambton or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online @ www.knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845.

  1. Your Dad was such a kind and loving man. I remember how he would sneak into my Dad’s back yard and plant sun flower seeds in Dad’s garden right in the middle of his beans and tomatoes. My Dad would laugh when someone would question him about the sun flowers in the middle of his garden. He would say, that SOB Benny Kaal snuck over and planted them there.
    Thinking of you all.
Sincerely, “Cat” (that’s what your Dad called me).

  2. Pat…Dorothy and I are thinking of you at this time .
Your Dad sure lived an interesting and complete, busy life .You’ll find positive memories of him with you daily as you go forward .Parents seem to have that affect on us.
    Kindest regards
    Ken /Dorothy
