Getty- “Bud” Gerald Howard Peter Getty passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit, Sarnia on Thursday September 27, 2018. Bud was 83 years old and had lived in Corunna for 60 years. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, “Bonnie” Madeline Yvonne Getty (Oct. 3, 2006). He was also predeceased by; his parents, Beatrice and Ross Getty; his sister, Beatrice Joyce Getty, his brothers, Don Getty (2016), Charles (Sonny) Getty (2018) and by his nephew John Getty (2018). Bud leaves behind his dear loving sister, Marlene Fisher and her husband Dr. Paul Fisher and their children Dan Fisher (Justin) and Lisa Mackendrick (Tim, Karli and Tyler). Left to carry on his many stories are his most dedicated and loving daughter, Karen Corner and her husband Rick, grandson, Ryan Corner (Cassandra) and his children Kelsey and Owen Corner and grandson Jeff Corner. Bud is also survived by; his son, Gerry Getty of Australia and by a special and caring friend, Sally Townsend of Corunna whom he spent many memorable times with. Bud was retired from Imperial Oil as a shift superintendent of process operations where he enjoyed 33 years working with his coworkers. Bud enjoyed many sports over the years including, football, baseball, golfing, lawn bowling and 5 pin bowling with the Imperial Oil Retirees. The apples of Bud’s eyes were his grandsons, Ryan and Jeff Corner. He enjoyed many countless hours, days and years with them growing up and teaching them many things in life from racquetball, squash, golfing and horseracing at Hiawatha. Bud was a very proud and loving “Papa” and always made them laugh with all of his story telling, “REALLY”. Papa will be missed more than words can express but his stories will live on forever. Cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held. A celebration of Bud’s life will be held at a later date.
