Cindy Munkittrick

Munkittrick- Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Monday April 1, 2019. Cindy Ann Munkittrick, age 63 years of Petrolia. Loving wife of 45 years to Ron. Dear mother of Julie (Shawn) Sexton and Michelle Munkittrick. Treasured grandmother of Abbi and Wil. Much loved sister of Kathy (Mike) Massicotte, Peggy (Von) Hache, Nancy (Jimmy) Plunkett, Brad (Johanne) Burd and sister-in-law of Fran and Ron Hamson. She will be fondly remembered by nieces and nephews; Lisa, Tina, Tracy, Alison, Emily, Molly, Katherine, Joseph, Rick and Larry. Numerous great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. Cindy was predeceased by; her parents, Jesse Burd (1990) and Joan Burd (2018) and by her son-in-law, Douwe Verboom (2012). Cindy was born on July 18, 1955 in Sarnia, Ontario. She grew up in Point Edward where she met the love of her life Ron in 1972. Cindy and Ron eventually settled in Corunna where they lived for 34 years and raised 2 daughters. In 2012 they moved to their beautiful retirement home in Marthaville surrounded by peace and nature. Cindy enjoyed travelling coast to coast and also loved her road trips with her sister Nancy. They also enjoyed their many years at Bugtussle. Cindy was so full of life and loved with all her heart and was always willing to lend a hand. Her family and friends meant the world to her. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and were so incredibly special to her and they will forever miss their Mammy Cindy. Cindy was feisty and had a great sense of humour that was present right up until the end. She loved to sit in her sunroom which she affectionately referred to as her “happy place”. Here she was surrounded by all their beautiful gardens and was able to watch her busy bird feeders all year long. Cindy loved to host impromptu gatherings at any given time and everyone was always welcome and made to feel at home. She was an incredibly talented seamstress, knitter, crafter and baker. She will best be known for “Cindy’s Butter Tarts”. Although Cindy is no longer physically with us, she has left behind so many happy memories and stories that will forever live on through each of us. In keeping with Cindy’s wishes cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life service will be had for her family at a later date. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Sarnia Humane Society. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral, Corunna. Deepest sympathy to the entire family on your loss. What a beautiful tribute to your loved one. Her obituary notice paints a wonderful picture of a life well lived. While you do not know me, my husband and I bought our lovely home in Point Edward from your parents, Jesse and Joan, in 1980. We proudly raised our own 3 daughters in this home and now enjoy the love of four grandsons spending time here as well. Please know that the home you all grew up in still holds wonderful memories to this day. God bless you in your time of grief.

I remember when my son was born back in 1986..We hadn't picked a name for him as yet, and Cindy informed me that she loved the name Michael. She stood in her driveway with her hands on her hips and informed me that this should be a name to consider..Mike will be 33 this year and this memory of Cindy will be with me forever.. Our deepest condolences to all of you…Steve and Annie
