Cynthia “Cindy” Brown

Brown-Surrounded by her loving family, Cynthia Lee Brown (VanDette) of Corunna passed away peacefully on Monday May 11, 2026 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. Cindy was born to Leonard and Betty (McFarland) on September 27, 1957. She is predeceased by both of her parents and her younger sister Susan. She is lovingly survived by her husband of 48 years Pat and her children Jenny (Marc) Nead and Chris (Lindsay). She was treasured Grandma to Jarron (Rylie), Amaree (Aaron), Haley, Josh, Lilly, Brynn, Ryerson, Paisley, and Koen. She was also a proud Great Grandma to Zion and Willow, with three more on the way this fall! She will be missed by her siblings Lisa (Roy) Timm and Mark (Robin) VanDette as well as many special in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, friends, and former colleagues. Cindy was born and raised in Flint Michigan. She graduated from Southwestern High School in 1975. On a trip to Frankenmuth Michigan, Cindy met the love of her life at a Bavarian Festival. After becoming penpals, they finally were married and the rest is history! Cindy loved her family unconditionally, proudly, and deeply. She enjoyed spending time outside with them, especially in her beautiful backyard. This was of course balanced with the happiness that being inside of a Ross or Winners store brought her as she found the best deals! She found great joy in her visits to the casino, where her remarkable luck brought many prizes and happy memories over the years including 2 cars, a snowmobile and many jackpots. She also loved attending concerts, enjoying the music, excitement, and special nights shared with family and friends. More than the winnings themselves, she cherished the laughter, stories, and time spent with those she loved. Cindy loved travelling. She was fortunate to share many memorable vacations over the years, but her greatest love was cruising. With family, she experienced 35 cruises. After working as administrative assistant for 41 years in both Canada and the US, Cindy retired. She was very thankful for the people she met and the friends she made over the years. Special thanks go to Dr. Clifford, Dr. Kim and his palliative care team, and our nurses from the VON and St. Joseph’s Hospice. Thank you also to the family and friends who have filled her final weeks with joy through visits, texts, phone calls or facetimes, flowers, and treats for Pat. Friends and family will be received at Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, May 20 at 11:00 a.m. from St Joseph’s Church in Corunna with Fr. Ray Lawhead celebrating. Inurnment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown.
