Darren Turner

TURNER – It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darren James Turner at University Hospital on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at the age of 47, surrounded by his loving family. Darren leaves behind his devoted wife Lena of 23 years, and his children Kaymond and Jacob. Darren is survived by his parents John and Judy Turner, his in-laws Maria and the late Jose Ortins. Darren will be greatly missed by his brothers Mike (Sue), Jace (Amanda), Jared (Rebecca) and his sister-in-law Genny (John). Darren adored his nieces and nephews; Alex (Cody), Alyssa (Omar), Savanah, Madison, Hayley, Maci, Averie, Charlotte, and Logan. They will deeply miss their Uncle Darren. He will forever be remembered by his many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Predeceased by is grandparents Roy and Doreen Turner and Holly and Roma Cruwys. Darren was a proud member of Local 663 for over 20 years; a third generation Steamfitter in his family. He was regularly seen behind the bench coaching hockey, on the field mentoring our Corunna minor ball players or slinging beer at the famous Captain Kidd Day tents. Darren gave back every chance he could and would drop anything to help out his family and friends. He was a selfless husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was well known for his famous Katy Perry firework dance, his hearty laughter, quirky jokes, and amazing smile; he could light up any room. Darren was a devoted family man, and his ultimate pride and joy were his boys, Kaymond and Jacob. As young children he was their hardest critic and most truehearted fan in all sports, making sure he never missed a game. His boys brought out the best in Darren and he was grateful for every moment he spent with them. Lena, Kaymond, and Jacob would like to thank all of their extended family, friends and community for all their love and support. Specifically, Mike, Tanya, and Mackenzy Tyndall and his ‘little buddy’ Carsyn who always made him smile. There will be a celebration of Darren’s life on April 9, 2022 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 447 at 350 Albert St., Corunna from 2 pm – 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, Darren and his family would like donations made to St. Joseph’s Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the Knight Funeral Home 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna ON.
