SMITH, DONALD BEVERLEY
Smith- Don passed away in Sarnia on June 25, 2025 at the age of ninety-four.
He is predeceased by his wife Daulphine (2024). Don was the proud father of Stacey Smith and devoted Poppa to grandchildren Ash Moore (Scott Moore) and Jesse Smith-Adam. Don is predeceased by his parents, siblings and many lifelong friends. Don retired after a long and respected career with Ontario Hydro, beginning as a proud lineman. A quiet and steady leader, he was deeply involved in his community, active in the United Church and dedicated to organizations such as the Masons, Shriners, and the Royal Order of Jesters. Some of Don’s happiest years were spent in Petrolia, where he found great joy in golf, swapping stories with Joe Street neighbours, and camaraderie with his work crew. Don made generosity look effortless, he was always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or roll up his sleeve to give blood. He met the world with a smile, a sense of humour, and just enough sass to keep you on your toes. Don was a romantic at heart and held out lifelong hope that the Detroit Lions would win a Super Bowl and the Toronto Maple Leafs might, one day, remember how to win the Cup. Don’s family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care he received from the staff at Fairwinds Lodge, C.E.E Continuing Care Team and Vision Nursing Home over the last year. Cremation has taken place and a private family funeral has been arranged. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sarnia Lambton Shrine Club or charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online at www.knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845

So sorry for your families loss. I remember your dad (and mom) from when our dads worked together at Ontario Hydro. Such a fun family, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. They will all be celebrating a grand reunion in Heaven. ❤️. May you rest in peace Smitty!

Stacey, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I did not know him as well as I knew your Mom. I think he is in a picture that has hung on the wall on Eureka St. since 1967 with the men of Petrolia who had grown beards for Canada and Petrolia’s Centennial.
Our thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
A kind, generous man that was very proud of his family and enjoyed his weekly coffee outings with friends. Stacey, Ash, Scott and Jesse…enjoy the happy memories and I’m sure you will reminisce about his many stories and adventures. I have known him since his Petrolia days and drive by the house on Joe Street often. RIP
