Donald “Benny” Goodman

GOODMAN, Donald Edward. (1929-2017)- It is with great sadness that the family of Donald “Benny” Goodman announce his passing on December 3rd, 2017. Ben was the beloved husband of Hilda for 68 wonderful years, loving father to Wayne (Karen), Brian (Judy), and Sheila (Bob Mitchell), cherished grandpa to Mark (Kellie), Lisa, Krista, Jamie, Sarah, and Michael, and a proud great-grandpa to Tai. He is also survived by his sister Linda, sisters-in-law Janie and Edith, and many nieces and nephews. Ben is predeceased by sisters Bernice, Beryl, and Norma, as well as brothers John and Bob. Ben was a life-long resident of St. Clair Township and a devoted local farmer. He was a long-time employee of Polysar and in his earlier years he worked on Imperial Oil boats. He was a proud member of the local community, including being a member of the Friendship Club and the Moore Optimist Club. He was also involved in the initial development of the Moore Sports Complex. He had a passion for fishing, camping, traveling, and playing cards. He was a true problem-solver who could fix anything and he was always willing to lend a hand. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and funny antics. Ben was a true family man with a big smile and an even bigger heart. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Thursday, December the 7, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday December 8, 2017 from 11 a.m. -12 p.m. where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Ian Marnoch officiating. Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that you consider a memorial donation in Benny’s name to the Knox-Moore Presbyterian Church or the Moore Optimist Club Operation Christmas Tree.
