Snelgrove– Peacefully at Fiddick’s Nursing Home, Petrolia on Friday February 4, 2022. Doreen Annie Snelgrove, age 101 yrs. Much loved mother of Joanne Groch and her husband Fred of Wallacetown. Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Theresa, Sheila and Sarah and great-grandmother of 8 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and a nephew in England also survive. Doreen was predeceased by; her daughter, Geraldine Ryan (2020); her husbands, Edmund Holliday and Ernest O. Snelgrove (1991) and by her brothers, Herbert, Joseph and John. Doreen grew up in Derby, England and was a W.W. II widow. She came to Canada in 1944 where she met and married Ernest Snelgrove in 1947. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Courtright for over 60 years. A special thank you is extended to Rev. Bob Gibson, Dr. John Butler and the entire staff at Fiddick’s Nursing Home for their outstanding care and compassion shown to Doreen and her family during her time spent there. A private family visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna followed by a funeral service at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Corunna with Rev. Paul Woolley officiating. Interment will follow at Sutherland Cemetery, Courtright. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice.
