Eileen Laliberte

Laliberte, Eileen October 14, 1931-July 30, 2023

Laliberte- Surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia.  Eileen Laliberte (nee Casey) peacefully passed away, at the age of 91, on July 30, 2023. Devoted wife of the late John Laliberte (2001) for 49 years. Loving mother of Patsy (late Garry) (2020), Rick (Colette), Ron (Laurainne), Mike (Patty) and Debbie. Cherished Grandma to Melissa, Julie, Shawn, Nicole, Jennifer, Jonathon, Eric, Mitchell, Emily and Keegan and grandma-two to twelve great-grandchildren. Eileen devoted her entire life to family, always supporting her children and grandchildren to do their very best. She grew up on a farm in Charlo, New Brunswick in a family of fourteen and spent her youth helping raise her younger siblings. She and John moved to Sarnia to raise their family of five children, and then moved to Corunna. No one could beat her cooking, baking or tomato picking skills, and we will miss her many ‘secret recipe’ specialities. The chaos of her growing family’s gatherings always brought the biggest smile to her face – we’re not sure if she was the happiest preparing holiday feasts and treats or making the house spotless as soon as food was in the oven. She had her hands full entertaining 10 grandchildren and acquired a few bumps and bruises along the way. We are all so lucky to have had this caring woman in our lives lending a helping hand and sympathetic ear. Her memory will live on as we come together and share one of her specialties or play a sport until someone is crying, bleeding or both. She will be dearly missed. A special thank you is extended to the health care professionals from the VON and St. Joseph’s Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care received. Cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held in the fall. In lieu of flowers, sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia or the VON Sarnia-Lambton. Arrangements entrusted to the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online at www.knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845

    2. Thank you for the warm and welcoming childhood you helped to provide to all of your grandkids as they grew up. You made every holiday, celebration, or summer vacation extra special for with your caring attitude, wonderful cooking, and sense of humour. Your warmth and ability to bring a great family together will be missed.

  2. Grandma/Grandma 2,
You are/were the best grandma we all could have asked for! You spoiled every grandkid with such love, food and fun activities. I’ll never forget the molasses cookies you made me and you made the best scrambled eggs ever! I always loved watching you play on your hands and knees with my kids and you being the first one to babysit Mackenzie. What a life you lived and what a live you made for your entire family. Much love, Julie

  3. We miss you mom. It’s hard to go on without you but your strong willed spirit will keep me going. You will always be in my heart.

I learned so much from you Mom especially about how to show unconditional love. You always supported my dreams and goals even when you might not have fully agreed. I strive every day to care for my sons like you cared for me. Thank you for all that you did for me.

  6. Your mom was a very kind and loving person. I will always remember all the great times we had at your house when we were kids. And will never forget those tomato picking days. Her and mom were a team to reckon with – none of us could keep up with them.
    Rest in peace Aunt Eileen.

I was too young to remember the tomato picking competitions – but have heard the stories! Hope all is well for you and family Millie.
