Crone- After a brief illness with cancer, Eric Crone, age 38 years of Corunna passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia on Tuesday November 29, 2011. Eric passed away with his beloved wife, Marnie (nee Gaw) and his three children, Ethan, Hannah and Lily at his bedside. Dearly loved son of Florence Winger and Bob Crone. Adored son-in-law of Bonnie Humble and her husband, Peter. Cherished brother of Mark Crone and his wife Laurie. Much loved brother-in-law of Amanda Gaw, Marcy Draker (Matt), Beth Brown (George) and Brad Humble (Nicole). Uncle to Jensen and Elevanne Crone and Wesley and Elijah Draker. Dearly missed by Marnie’s cousins, Danna Hartley (Chuck), Kyle Hartley (Sandy) and Trisha Hartley (Larry). Eric was predeceased by his step-father, Ronald Winger and by his father-in-law, Terry Gaw. He will be terribly missed by his close and lifelong friends, Jeff Kendel, Jeff Hands, Glenn Howlett, Wayne MacLean, Jeremy Flett, Laurie Woodcock, Billie Jo Gage and last but not least, Willy Wyville. Eric lived a vibrant life in his short 38 years. He lived in Corunna with Marnie and their kids, having gone to public school there. He was most recently employed at Cabot and had worked at Woodbridge Foam in Corunna. Eric was an avid sports fan who loved the Pittsburgh Steelers, Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Yankees. He played football and rugby for SCITS during his high school years and for two years he enjoyed playing for the Sarnia Imperials. Eric was thrilled that his son, Ethan, played junior football at SCITS this past fall. He loved his children immensely and spent lots of time watching Ethan and Lily playing hockey in Mooretown. He loved Hannah’s drawings and her artistic flair. Eric loved music and saw Neil Young with Willy in Detroit and recently went to a Pearl Jam concert with Ethan at Copps Coliseum. Eric simply loved being surrounded by his childhood friends and was touched by the sheer number of people that attended a benefit for him in October. His wonderful legacy will surround Marnie, Ethan, Hannah and Lily for years to come. His passing is something that has shocked everyone to their core but Marnie and the kids want everyone to celebrate his life “Croner Style”. Marnie and family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Bob Borek and Dr. Glen Maddison for their kind and compassionate care. There are simply no words to describe the support and solace generated by St. Joseph’s Hospice staff and volunteers who assisted the family in so many ways during this very difficult time. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of life will be held in the chapel of Knight Funeral Home on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Deanna Gibson and long time friend Paul Churchill hosting.
