McLaughlin- Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lambton Meadowview Villa in Petrolia. Frederick Lee McLaughlin age 86 years of Courtright passed away on Wednesday April 26, 2023. Born on March 29, 1937, Fred was the beloved husband of Carole (nee Sexton) for 60 years. Dear father of Alan McLaughlin (Linda) of Mooretown, Kevin McLaughlin (Laurie) of Brigden and Jason McLaughlin of Courtright. Cherished grandfather of Matthew (Danielle) of Delaware, Martin of Petrolia, Jessica of Ottawa, Jordan and Sidney both of Brigden. Treasured great-grandfather of Bridget and Kayleigh. Fred is also survived by; his sisters-in-law, Pat Sexton of Corunna and Connie McLaughlin of Nokomas, IL.; his nephews, Ed Bradford of Petrolia, Maitland Noyle of Corunna and Scott Sexton (Andrea) of Corunna and by his niece, Kerri Sue Bailey (Kelly) of Courtright. He was predeceased by; his parents, Earl and Mary (nee Japp) McLaughlin; his brother, Frank “Dick” McLaughlin; his sister, Betty Noyle; his parents-in-law, Jack and Gladys (nee Walker) Sexton; his brothers-in-law, Jim Noyle and Bob Sexton and by his nephew Dale Bradford. Fred was a proud, longtime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793 since 1958 and was a lifelong member of the Brigden Royal Canadian Legion. His family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa for the compassionate and superb care given to Fred during his brief stay there. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Monday May 1, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday May 2, 2023 with Rev. Jill Rogers officiating. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Royal Canadian Legion or to the charity of one’s choice.
