vanWijnen- Peacefully at the Bluewater Health-Palliative Care Unit, Sarnia on Tuesday November 11, 2020. Gerrit “George” vanWijnen, age 79 years of Sarnia and formerly of Mooretown. George is surived by; his loving wife of 56 years, Ida (McClemens); his daughter, Mary Leffler (Dave); granddaughter, Tara Holmes (Brian); great-grandaughter, Hannelore; grandson, Adrian Vail; son, Peter vanWijnen (Stacey); grandchildren, Hudson Adair, Stephen vanWijnen, Kassidy Codling and great-grandson, Kyler; daughter, Tracey Greenfield (Dan); grandchildren, Erika Cook (Chris Burdett), Dylan McMichael (Heather Levesque) and Austin McMichael (Molly Beauchamp); brother Willy (Jane); brother, Sandy (Grace deceased 2013); favourite niece (according to her), Mary Ann Duchene; brothers-in-law, Donnie McClemens (Nancy) and Ronnie McClemens (Sandy deceased 2001); sister-in-law, Mary Jane Pearson. Many nieces, nephews, fur babies, extended family and friends also survive. George was predeceased by; his grandson Erik Vail and by his brother, Nelis. George retired from CNR in 1995 after 25 years of service. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and no further services are planned. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna.
