Hazel Clysdale

Clysdale– It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our mother, Hazel Clysdale at the age of 98 years. Hazel Eleanor Clysdale (Rankin) born on March 16, 1925 on Bickford Line, passed away on Sunday October 8, 2023 at Trillium Villa Nursing Home in Sarnia. Hazel lived most of her long life in the Mooretown area and moved to St. Thomas, Ontario in 1987. Predeceased by; her parents, Kenneth and Stella Rankin; her husband, Lloyd Clysdale (1997); her brother, Donald Rankin (June) and sister Betty Dell (Harvey). Hazel is survived by; five brothers, Maurice Rankin (Ruby), Ray Rankin (Helen), Archie Rankin (Dora), Ernie Rankin (Carol) and Robert Rankin (Marie). Proud mother of four children; Donna Kelso (Don VerBeem) of Camlachie, granddaughter, Valerie Kelso (Mike Sparks) of Strathroy and Jeff Kelso (Theodora) of Lambeth; Herb Clysdale (Christina) of Red Deer Alberta, grandsons, Stephen Clysdale and Michael Clysdale both of Sarnia; Ron Clysdale (Helene) of Airdrie Alberta, grandson Scott Clysdale of Calgary and Doreen Clysdale of Midland, ON and granddaughter Jennifer Clysdale-King of Albquerque, New Mexico. Hazel was a treasured great-grandmother of Brandon Kelso (Olivia McAllister) Alexandra Kelso, Athena Kelso, Madison Clysdale, Brayden Clysdale, Skylar Clysdale and Tyson King and great-great-grandmother of Blake Kelso and Arla Kelso. Hazel lived on a farm most of her years and was no stranger to hard work. She had many hobbies and many talents. She was an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved to travel and proudly recalled dipping her toe in there different oceans. Hazel was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Her hobbies included knitting, sewing and photography but loved most painting scenery, animals, flowers and portraits. In her 70’s and 80’s Hazel excelled at painting in water colours and oils. The family wishes to extend many thanks to the nursing staff at Trillium Villa for their professionalism and caring. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Saturday October 14, 2023 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. where a funeral service will be held 12:00 p.m. with Gabrielle Heidinger officiating . Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or to the charity of one’s choice.     Sorry to hear of Aunt Hazels passing . Lots of memories out on the Rokeby farm of them, their horses and her poodle dog when I would visit with my grandparents Garnet and Gladys.
