Gormley- Peacefully surrounded by his family at Vision Nursing Home, Sarnia, on Thursday January 29, 2009. James “Joe” Gormley age 85 years of Corunna and formerly of Courtright. Beloved husband of 58 years to Fern. Loving father of Judy Buckingham and her husband Jim of Mooretown and Pat Gormley and his wife Stacy of Courtright. Dear grandfather of Cari Buckingham, Kelly Vale (Tim), Katie Buckingham (David Woods), James, Daniel and Michael Gormley. Also survived by; his brothers and sisters, Emily Goyke (Max) of East Pointe, Mi., Rose Shaw (Ken) of Sarnia, Teresa Selman (Doug) of Courtright and Jack Gormley of Sombra; his sisters-in-law, Karen Gormley of Sombra, Lorraine Gormley of Sarnia and Lois Dixon of Sombra; his brothers-in-law, Jim Dixon (Pauline) of Sarnia, Harvey Lester of Sarnia and Jerry Shepherd of Sombra. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceasd by; his sister, Kay Platjouw; his brothers, Bill and Pat Gormley; his sisters-in-law Janet Gormley, Jean Lester and Mary Shepherd and by his brother-in-law, Roy Dixon. Joe was a veteran of WW II serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, he was retired from Shell Oil after 33 years of service and he thoroughly enjoyed his time spent with his family in Florida upon his retirement. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 4:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Corunna on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Jan Pochwala Celebrating. Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Lambton Lung Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
