John Hiemstra

Hiemstra- Suddenly in Port Huron, Michigan on Thursday May 21, 2015. John Hiemstra, age 80 yrs. of Courtright. Loving husband of the late Patricia (Lambert) Hiemstra (2007). Dear brother of Klaas Hiemstra (Linda) of Toronto; brother-in-law of, Barb Hiemstra of Sarnia and uncle of Dale Hiemstra (Cammie), Trent Hiemstra, Dana Rawson (Mike), and Phillip Hiemstra (Katie). Several great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. John was predeceased by his parents Emke and Grietje Hiemstra and by his brother Tony Hiemstra (2002). John was a trucker by trade who enjoyed tinkering with all things mechanical including his airplanes, Harley Davidson motorcycle and his Bren Gun Carrier. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Sunday May 24, 2015 from 1-4 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Blair Corcoran officiating. Interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.   1. Thanks, Paula. I saw a comment or two on YouTube ranredigg the Applause spot, basically saying that they just wished people would actually do that (applaud). Well, I’ve seen it happen: I was part of an airport homecoming for a kid I know who returned from a tour of duty in Iraq, and it was quite a moving experience. A lot of people who didn’t know him joined in. I have a lot of respect for those who volunteer to serve, wherever they get sent. Good people can also disagree about whether we should be there.
