Lee Hayes

Hayes- Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Bluewater Health-Sarnia, on Tuesday October 16, 2012. Leta “Lee” Deborah Hayes age 59 years of Corunna. Beloved wife of 36 years to Peter. Loving mother of Katherine Hayes of Sarnia and Kristina Hayes of Corunna. Also left to mourn her passing are; her step-sister, Sue Court of Windsor; her brother, George (Patti) Varo of Burlington; her father-in-law, Leo Hayes of Windsor; her brothers-in-law, Gary (Barb)Hayes of River Canard and Terry (Michelle) Hayes of Amherstburg; sister-in-law Cheryl (Ralph) Hubel of Windsor and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Leta was born in Windsor to the late Kenneth and Jean Varo and is also predeceased by; her mother-in-law, Annie Hayes and by her brothers, Richard and Wayne. Leta will always be remembered for her unconditional generosity to everyone she touched. She worked as a finance clerk at the Aamjiwnaang Chippewas of Sarnia First Nations for several years and she was a past President of the Bright’s Grove Optimist Club and The Hon. Bryan L. Cathcart I.O.D.E of Corunna. Special thanks to Dr. Yoshida, Dr. Dostaler as well as the extraordinary staff and volunteers at 2nd Floor Oncology Department at Bluewater Health, Sarnia. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Friday October 19, 2012 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Allan McKeown officiating. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Oncology Department of Bluewater Health, Sarnia or to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia.
