Leona Smith

Smith- Leona (Carroll) peacefully at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, on Friday September 4, 2009 with her loving family by her side in her 92nd year. She was reunited with her loving husband Ross Smith (2005) of 65 years. Dearly loved mother of Bev Cassel and her husband Peter of Corunna and Barry Smith and his wife Virginia of Windsor. Cherished grandmother of Lisa, Brad (Amanda), Leanne (Jeff), Heather (Jason) and Jennifer; great-grandmother of Emily, Sam ,Tamara, Owen, Logan, Jason and Erica. Also survived by; her brothers-in-law, Jack Watson (Jean) and Jim Watson (Helen); many nieces and nephews; special niece, Carol Jahnke and by special friend, Edith Bruton. Leona was predeceased by her brothers, Lloyd, Vincent and Maurice and by her sister Madeleine Jahnke. Leona was a dedicated member of Corunna United Church since 1945. She has lived with the disease of Multiple Sclerosis for 43 years and has been an inspiration to all who have known her. She also was an avid bridge player. Many thanks are extended to Meadowview Villa, Petrolia and the care givers for 9 years of contributing to her quality of life-“Excellent Care”. Friends are invited to join her family for a funeral service and celebration of her life at Corunna United Church on Tuesday September 8, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Janet Uren officiating. The family will receive visitors at Corunna United Church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A reception will follow immediately after the service. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. In lieu of flowers friends who wish may send memorial donations to Corunna United Church or to the Sarnia/Lambton MS Society. Arrangements entrusted to the Knight Funeral Home, Corunna.
