Searson- It is with profound sadness that the family of Marilyn Searson announce her peaceful passing on Monday September 25, 2023, two weeks shy of her 81st birthday. Loving wife and best friend of the late Carlyle Searson (November 21, 2020). Cherished mother of Scott Searson and his wife Anne and Jason Searson and his wife Cindy. Devoted and loving grandmother of Jenna (Dan O’Hagan), Shannon (Brandon McCurdy), Jesse and Amber and great-grandmother of Levi O’Hagan and Baby O’Hagan. Marilyn was the only daughter of Dr. and Mrs. JS Clark and sister to Ron (Sharon) and Carm. She was predeceased by Gary and Craig. Special aunt to Carla (Clark) and Nick Sitter and their sons, Cale and Gavin. Reunited with her aunt, Norma Scott and friends Mary Anne Penny and Rosemary Vail. Born in Forest, Marilyn met her lifelong friend, Diane (Jay) Anderson. After living in Calgary and Brantford she settled in Watford in 1955. She graduated from Beauty School and opened her hair salon in Watford in 1961 beside the Post Office. She married Carlyle in 1963 and continued hairdressing out of their home while raising their family. She enjoyed camping, bluegrass festivals, dances at the Wyoming Legion, shooting at the gun club, the Steam Threshers and watching Jesse and Amber drag race. A huge highlight of her life was travelling to Florida in 2009. She loved a good cup of coffee and everyone loved her pies. A special thank you is extended to the entire staff at Strathmere Lodge for their compassionate care shown to Marilyn and her family. Thank you to Country Manor and sincere appreciation is expressed to Gary and Liz Muxlow and John and Val Stephenson for their friendship and support. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life for Marilyn and Carlyle will be held in the summer of 2024. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider making a donation to any Watford Community charity as an expression of sympathy. I met Marilyn and Carlyle when I was 3 years old when my family moved to Watford. We lived in a big house made into apartments and they were on the side of the same house. Mom and I went to Marilyn for our haircuts. Her Dad was my Dad’s boss at Imperial Poultry and even after we moved away we visited Doc and Mrs Clark whenever we were in Watford. We knew the whole family. Later when I moved back to Watford Doc and Helen were my neighbours and when Mom and Dad came to visit my husband and I they often stopped to see the Clarks too. I ran into Marilyn many times at the grocery store and saw Carlyle usually at the post office. It was a pleasure to know the whole family. May she rest in peace reunited with her best friend and husband, her parents, and brothers. Cherish the memories.
