Melissa “Mel” Sue Serwatkiewicz

Serwatkiewicz– Peacefully at the Toronto General Hospital after a courageous battle with Leukemia surrounded by her loving family on Thursday February 4, 2016. Melissa “Mel” Sue Serwatkiewicz, age 33 yrs. of Sombra. Much loved wife of Max Armstrong. Loving daughter of Darlene and Richard Serwatkiewicz of Sarnia. Treasured sister of Christine Serwatkiewicz (Frank Coulis) of Waterloo and Lisa Serwatkiewicz (Jack Martin) of Sarnia. Dearest aunt of Nicklas Coulis. Melissa is also survived by; her aunt Joanne Brown of London; her uncles, John Brown and Hally Brown both of Sarnia; her mother-in-law, Edith Wilmot-Quigg of Corunna and by her father-in-law, Travis “George” Armstrong of Corunna. Melissa will be fondly remembered by her many co-workers at the Suncor Refinery in Sarnia where she was employed for many years. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Wednesday February 10, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the London regional cancer Clinic or to the charity of one’s choice.   21. My deepest condolences to Melissa’s loving family and friends. I had the honour of teaching Melissa in grade 8, at Johnston. We kept in touch over the years. I know how much she loved and adored her husband, and how happy she was buying her home and renovating it. She enjoyed her work and possessed a youthful, optimistic, zest for life. Family, and friends were her most valued treasures.

    I am so sorry and heart-broken to hear about Melissa. My deepest condolences to all of you. I had the pleasure to work with Melissa at Suncor between 2003 to 2006 on the Genesis project. Her energy, her smile, her enthusiasm and her sunny disposition were always very inspiring to me and to the Genesis team. She was an amazing colleague and person who always had a radiant smile even in the toughest of times. I will always remember her fondly as a colleague and a dear friend whose courage has inspired me in many ways.     I’m so so sorry for your loss. Mel and I were close in elementary school (even though I was a year younger) and had many a laugh playing basketball together in high school too. Although we didn’t always keep in touch, every once in a while I’d open my Facebook and she’d have sent me a message. I never thought those quick messages we exchangedwwould ever stop appearing. Mel was one of the most beautiful, caring, funny people I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. I’m so sorry that she is gone. I’m thinkin and praying for all of you.
