Wendy & the entire Daye family….so sorry to hear of my old Pal’s passing….Ron and I started working at Shell on the same day Jan 30,1978 when it was about -35 F below outside….he kept our hiring group of 10 pretty loose in Guy Mott’s College for 4 weeks as i was getting to know him and we had some laughs together…..After that we were both assigned to Shift work in Process on the FCCU-#1 Crude Complex…..Ron was very ambitious and eager to learn as i was but he had one special quality,he was fearless of the volatility, heat, flow and pressure inside the pipelines….what a character he was!…He bought a brand new 1978 Mustang Car even before our 6 months of probation was over and we were under alot of stress to progress….so many employees had been let go before we came along but Ron said there was NO WAY he was going to be one of them!…he had plenty of confidence but at some point as did all of us did,he got the “Process scare” and applied for an opening in the Utilities Dept(the Main Steam Plant) after about 18 months to be a Stationary Engineer…I went to the Lab about 2.5 yrs later so we were neighbours once again(Lab and Steam Plant were right beside one another)Ron worked at the Shell Refinery 6 yrs. longer than i did and i was recommending to him to retire as a friend because the equipment was getting old and things within the Company were getting bad but he was a go-getter and wanted to keep going as he had so much energy and i admired him for that quality that he had….he wasn’t afraid to make mistakes or fail at anything and for that i will always remember him…my deepest sincere condolences to everyone whoever knew him or worked with him……smart as a whip with his quick wit!……R.I.P. Ronnie
