RIPLEY; Ruby Helena (Johnston) – Peacefully at Bluewater Health on Friday, September 13, 2013, with her much loved cousin by her side. Ruby, formerly of Moore Township passed away in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late James Ripley (1998). Loving Stepmother of Robert (Anna Jean) and Jack (Donna). Cherished Step Grandmother of Laura (Tom) Versteeg, Carol (Mike) Crump, Nicole (Eric) Jessop, and Donald Ripley (and best friend, Katie) and Step Great Grandmother of Sarah, Matthew, Shaun, Derek, Lauren, Marissa, and Alicia. Ruby will be sadly missed by several cousins and friends in Ontario and the U.S. Predeceased by her parents, Robert (James) and Lena Johnston and her aunts and uncles. Ruby was raised on her parent’s farm on the 6th line of Moore and lived there for 43 years. She then moved to her beloved home on the St. Clair Parkway where she loved to watch the traffic on the beautiful St. Clair River. Ruby retired to Sarnia in 2006 before moving to the Residence on the St. Clair in 2012, where she continued to enjoy her loved St. Clair River. Ruby was a long-time employee with Walker Bros (Sarnia) Ltd., a charter and life member of the Moore Centre Women’s Institute and a member of Froomfield Women’s Institute, and a member of Huron Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Residence on the St. Clair, the caring staff at Bluewater Health, Dr. Borek for the many house calls, and Dr. Suryvanshi for his caring ways. Friends will be received at Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Sunday, September 15, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. A Memorial Service will celebrate Ruby’s life on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Huron Baptist Church, 1285 Michigan Avenue, Sarnia. Interment, Moore Union Cemetery on Monday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or Huron Baptist Church would be appreciated.
