Sherman Bailey

Bailey- Sherman Roy Bailey at age 87 years passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, on Thursday January 13, 2011. Beloved husband of 61 years to Ruby (Sheffer). Dear father of Jean and Dennis Shuler, Pat and Jerry Tremblay and Paul Bailey. Loving grandfather of Amy Kingston, Michelle and Aaron Sayers and great-grandfather of Lucas and Sierra Sayers. Also survived by; his brother, Gerald (Edith) Bailey; brothers-in-law, Floyd (Rita) Sheffer and Jake Spenler; sisters-in-law, Louise Bailey, Laura Bailey, Marion Codling, Stella Sheffer, Audrey Sheffer and Anne Sheffer. Predeceased by; his daughter, Debbie (1982); grandson, Nathan Kingston (1991); parents, William (1939) and Elvie (1954); brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Beatrice Bailey, Lyle Bailey, Ernie and Ruth Bailey, Ross and Vendola Bailey,Bob Bailey and Ethel Bailey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Jack Britney and Elsie and Bob Welch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Stan and Grace Sheffer, Alma Sheffer, Earl and Evelyn Sheffer, Clarence Sheffer, Dorothy Spenler, Wilfred Carpenter and Roy Sheffer. Sherman was employed at Wonder Bread, Purity Dairy and Polysar. He enjoyed his 24 years of retirement with his family and friends. He brought tremendous joy to many with his fiddle music at the nursing homes and hospitals. Many students benefited from his enthusiastic and patient teaching. Over the years Sherman and his family attended Baptist Churches in Courtright and Corunna, St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Corunna and most recently Huron Baptist Church, Sarnia. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Sunday January 16, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday from Huron Baptist Church, 1285 Michigan Ave, Sarnia, with Rev. David Benn officiating. The interment will follow in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown at 2:00 p.m.. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia or to Huron Baptist Church, Sarnia.
