Carlos- Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia on Saturday January 17, 2015. Shirley Marie (nee Herod) (Mackenzie) Carlos, age 89 yrs. of Sarnia and formerly of Hamilton and Deep River. Loving mother of Marybeth Smith and her husband Gary of Mooretown, ON, Donald Mackenzie and his wife Patricia of Hamilton, ON and David Mackenzie and his wife Lori of Lake Cowichan, B.C. Dear grandmother of John Hill, Donald, James, Matthew and Michael Mackenzie and great-grandmother of 2. She was predeceased by; her husband, George Carlos; her brother, Donald Herod and sister, Joan Zimmerman. Shirley retired form AECL- Chalk River as a secretary in the Nuclear Physics Department. She had many hobbies including water colour, oil and acrylic painting, wood carving, rug hooking and sewing. She will be missed by her many friends at Landmark Village Retirement Home, the Triple “C” Carvers, Strangway Center-Sarnia and the Heritage Sisters. Cremation has already taken place and a private family interment service will be held in Grove Cemetery, Dundas at a later date. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send a memorial donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia or to a charity of one’s choice.   1. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will remember your Mom every day. She was like my second Mom, and a good friend to me. After loosing Ron, she comforted me a lot. Shirley encoraged me in my painting, and I sold one of my pantings at SA W show. Sincerely yours Jill

    She was a very talented lady and we always enjoyed her company and had a lot of laughs with our group of Heritage Sisters. We will miss her dearly.
