Mercer-Peacefully at Trillium Villa Nursing Home, Sarnia on Thursday July 2, 2020. Shirley Irene Mercer, age 90 years formerly of Corunna. Beloved wife of the late Harry Mercer (1999). Much loved mother of Larry Mercer of Ottawa, Randy Mercer and his wife Cathy of Corunna, Terry Mercer of Sarnia, Wendy Daye and her husband Ron of Corunna, Brad Mercer of Burlington and Cyndy Vandervies and her husband John of Corunna. Treasured grandmother of 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Loving sister of Helen Slater of Chatham. Shirley was predeceased by; her daughter, Susan (1957) and by her brother, Richard Gwilt. Special thanks is extended to the Staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home for their care and compassion shown to Shirley during her 5 year stay there. A private family visitation was held at the Knight Funeral Home and cremation followed. A private graveside service will be held in Bear Creek Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Ontario Brain Injury Association-Sarnia/Lambton, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of one’s choice.
