Steve Elnicki

Elnicki-Peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health, Sarnia on Friday September 27, 2019. Steven Mark Elnicki, aged 59 years of Corunna. Well, if you are reading this I have passed and moved on to the other side. I was predeceased by my father Edward Elnicki in 1993 and I’m survived by my wonderful angel and mother, M. Eileen Elnicki of Corunna; brother, John Elnicki, of Sarnia; special sons, E. Connor Elnicki and Jordan Elnicki of Corunna; nephew, Ashton Elnicki and his wife Katherine of Sarnia; niece, Shawne Elnicki of Toronto; best aunt and uncle, Henry and Cecie and their family of Toronto as well as by several cousins. I was born in Wallaceburg on December 9, 1959 and was educated and enjoyed playing several sports throughout my early years in the Burg. I moved North at age 18 and eventually made Corunna my new hometown. I began a 35 year career with Bell in 1978 and left on a disability pension in 2013. I was an avid Red Wing, Tiger and Lion fan and a closet Leafs fan, I was an original Mugger, playing ball in Courtright for many years. I played for Waltec in the Sunday morning hockey league in Wallaceburg and I was a founding member of the Mooretown Comets Senior B Hockey Team. My fantasy football buddies and I as well as my friends who faithfully participated in our NHL Playoff draft have enjoyed over 25 years of comradery. I enjoyed golfing, fishing, concerts, music and travelling when I could. I will miss the friends, the teammates and acquaintances I have made over the years. My boys were the pinnacle of my life. Connor and Jordan made me extremely proud. They helped me so much later on when medical issues prevented me from doing the things I loved. I enjoyed all kinds of music for years and that pleasure has been passed on to my boys who have excelled in playing and enjoying music as much as I did. I had the pleasure of listening to the Down River Band more than anyone, as my basement has been their HQ without any questions. Go all the way DRB! Cremation has already taken place and at my request there will be no visitation. A celebration of my life will be held at the Corunna Legion on Friday October 18, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. A private family burial will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Noelle’s Gift and would be greatly appreciated. A tree will be planted in my memory by my boy’s in a location of their choice. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral, Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online @ knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845

My condolences. I am so sorry to hear this news. Growing up in Wallaceburg, I knew Steve since we were young boys. What a guy! A very good athlete, Steve was our quarterback and leader on our junior football team at WDSS back in the 70's. I know he loved his music as I ran into him more recently at venues where the Down River Band would play.Always talked about old times. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
