Sylvia Biesterfeldt

Biesterfeldt, Sylvia Elsa Gertrud- Peacefully on Wednesday November 22, 2017, our cherished wife and mom passed into God’s hand after a long and courageous battle at home, bedridden with dementia. Born in Berlin, Germany in 1942, Sylvia came to Canada as a teenager with her mom in the 1950’s. She was employed at various jobs where she always excelled at whatever she put her hand to. She is remembered by her family for her artistic flare in painting, decor and gardening which was especially evident at the St. Clair Garden Centre that she and her husband owned and managed during the 1980’s. Mom was also remembered for her delicious gourmet cooking which she shared generously at her church soup kitchen which eventually fostered the Inn of the Good shepherd. Sylvia also had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh at our silly antics. One of mom’s greatest passions was her Christian faith and her church where she was involved in healing, prayer and prophetic ministries. She also loved to worship and could be heard singing with gusto during worship sessions. Our mom was a force of nature, always working hard to do her best and to do good for others. She taught us right from wrong and to always treat others better than ourselves and not to discriminate against anyone. Sylvia is survived by her loving husband Helmut Biesterfeldt of Courtright. She was a loving mother to Arlette Hunnakko (Ray) of Thunder Bay, Derek Payne of Corunna and Landon Payne (Maria) of Sarnia. She is also survived by; her brother, Klaus Bruckmann (Margie) of Bothwell; her niece, Gina Earle (Dan) and great-nieces, Allyssa and Brianna. She was predeceased by; her parents, Gunter and Erika Bruckmann (1977) and by her first husband, Roy Payne (2010). In keeping with the families wishes a small private service was held and interment followed in Moore-Union Cemetery, Mooretown. As expressions of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Inn of the Good Shepherd or to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna. Messages and condolences may be left online @ www.knightfuneralhome.ca Knight 519-862-2845.
