Willy Grunte

Grunte- Unexpectedly but peacefully following a courageous 1 year battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by her loving family at the Bluewater Health Palliative Care Unit, Sarnia on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Johanna Wilhelmina “Willy” Grunte, aged 77 yrs of Corunna. Beloved wife of 58 years to Pete Grunte. Loving mother of Brian Grunte (Valerie) of London, Todd Grunte (Kim Heath) and Shawn Grunte (AmyJo) all of Corunna. Treasured grandmother of Myles, Maizy, Liam and Molly. Willy was predeceased by; her infant son, Eric, her sister, Margaret Soepboer and by her brother, Arie Verwey. She will be fondly remembered by the many customers who got to know her during her time at Mark’s Work Warehouse in Sarnia. Friends will be received at the Knight Funeral Home, 588 St. Clair Parkway, Corunna on Wednesday May 8, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. There will be no formal funeral service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers sympathy may be expressed through memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the London Regional Cancer Clinic.   8. At this time words cannot convey what impact the loss of Willy is to her family and friends. I feel blessed that I could call her my friend. One of Willy’s best attributes was that there were no sides to her; what you had was a lady whose beliefs never wavered; she didn’t waver from who she was. I am grateful that I spoke with her last week and we had our usual laughs, that is comforting to me.
    I know the pain that her family is enduring currently, and my heart goes out to you. I know all of you realize what a great lady she was.
